Lighting Up Our Lives

One of my favourite definitions of the word worship is to show "excessive love" for something. People tend to show this kind of over the top devotion to stuff all the time whether it be an addiction to a hot new TV show, a longing for the latest pair of shoes or even a mad obsession with Star Trek. Christians show this "excessive love" for God when they don't just sing songs on a Sunday Morning but they make God's words the soundtrack to their whole life.

The following expression of "excessive love" can be read as a poem or sung to the tune of SNOW PATROL / LEONA LEWIS - RUN.

This is our prayer sung out for you
Let our thankful hearts now show
Through everything we say and do
Let your grace flow

Every time we look at you
We remember all you do
With our hearts removed from fear
Our dreams now clear

Light Up, Light Up
Your ways will be our choice
When all around us tries to still your voice
Still your love will guide us through

Louder, Louder
Your spirit speaks and cries
Calling us to come and take our stand
To give our lives and lift your name

Let an amazing kingdom come
Through your church for all to see
Let your awesome will be done
Be done in me

Sing out, Sing Out
All You who need his grace
All we have to do is to seek his face
And find the father’s arms of love

Reach up Reach Out
And Step into his power
Let his destiny now mark our hour
We can still redeem our day

Light Up, Light Up
And Let this world rejoice
Let this generation hear your voice
And know his love and mercy too
