A Response to the Foundations Series

My friend Faith's comments on my series on Foundations ring so true that I felt they deserved a whole post of their own.

"I am so challenged by this... so much of what the world has to offer is all about the 'rush', you would think the church would have it differently! The truth is, christians can be so focused on external things like miracles and moving in the spirit, that they by-pass the importance of building and caring for the foundations of what it truly means to follow jesus in their own lives. This can often lead to disappointment, as people constantly compare themselves to others around them, based on 'how many times did you pray in that meeting'. But really, if we recognise the importance of strengthening our foundations on the rock, Jesus, we will be completely secure in God, and gifts of the spirit will flow from that place."

Couldn't have put it better myself.

  1. I think this is really good Faith! People are always trying to beat everybody out like 'the amount of times you prayed this week' or 'how many times did God speak to you this week?' and 'how much time did you spend with Jesus'. Don't worry about how long other people have spent with God. You should be fussed on how much time you actually spent with God. Although He knows anything you do He still wants you to be honest with Him.

The church is quite... I can't find a word to describe it. I mean it gives you this idea that to be a christian all you have to do is read your bible, pray, worship on a Sunday, go to sunday school and go to youth. I mean to be a christian you do all those stuff but to have a relationship with God is different. It's not just read your bible and pray etc... it's being intimate with God. Coming to Him and admitting what you have done right or wrong (although he already knows). Speaking to God like you are talking to your dad, like your best friend. He doesn't want us to be scared of Him. He wants us to have an intimate relationship with Him.
He still wants us to read His word and pray and go to church etc. He doesn't want us to speak to Him at church, He wants us ALL THE TIME!!!

sorry I went on abit, but I just wanted to share :D
